  This is a superb French patisserie and cafe catering for light lunches, morning coffee and afternoon tea - in fact you will find something to suit you at any time of the day. Everything is home-made and the quiches, pies and cakes are superb - made with French flair and an attention to taste. The salad dressings were lovely. The prices are very reasonable too.

  This is the most representative description/critique of Alain Ronez's skill, at presenting us on a daily basis with the most delicate patisseries as well as some savoury fare. I could not help but publish it as it is a true image of the love and dedication that is required to enable La Salamandre to tempt us with their menu.
  "Patisserie as perfect as I've eaten anywhere in France. His lemon tartlet - finest pastry, filled with a mound of softest lemony deliciousness - nothing like we usually get presented with in England i.e. lemon flavoured Birds custard or a thin dried out acidic bright yellow stickiness on solid and/or wet pastry. And even better than eating it over the Channel - a proper cup of tea - bliss! This will be my food in heaven...And when I can't stay I can take one away. Don't start me on the quiche - I normally wouldn't bother but these are a large slice of light eggy tastiness. The café is small, painted grey, at the far end of the High Street near the Nepalese restaurant. They also have a courtyard garden which is delightful"
